Allan, a self-taught Canadian artist, specializes in work in soapstone, alabaster and serpentine. Inspired by what he sees in nature Allan continues to constantly evolve his talent. He has done pieces for collectors, large corporations, galleries and many others. His work has found its way as far as Denmark, England, Africa, and Australia. Allan uses a variety of unique tools and techniques and has developed many innovative applications that he still uses today to perfect his work. Allan is in his seventh year of teaching soapstone carving to patients at the Cross Cancer Insitute in Edmonton, AB. He also offers on-site carving at galleries and local events, and weekend carving seminars which are always fun, exciting and booked up quick. All of Allan's carvings come signed and numbered to confirm that they are hand-made soley by Allan Waidman. Each piece is unique for no pattern is used and where some pieces may be similar, each will vary in size, shape, weight, color, type of stone and finish.
